A richly patinated provincial French frame dating to the early 20th century, with a bronze finish over original water gilding.

Another frame with compelling traces of a life already lived, the stamp on this frame reads “Sydney Thompson ‘Rue Couverte’ Prix ..” Sydney Lough Thompson was a New Zealand born painter who spent periods in France in the Brittany region. He enjoyed a successful career as a painter both in France and New Zealand, and was awarded an OBE in 1937.
